On October 17th, 2023, Robin Restaino went to the emergency room with what we believed was a severe migraine. Instead, after dangerously high blood pressure readings and extensive testing, we received heartbreaking news: Robin was in acute kidney failure.
Robin had never experienced any kidney-related issues before, and even now, the exact cause remains unknown. Today, her kidney function has declined to just 14 percent (GFR).
We are urgently seeking a living kidney donor to help give Robin a second chance at life.

Every year, thousands of living donors give the gift of life by donating a healthy kidney to someone with advanced kidney disease. Their generosity can spare recipients years of waiting for a deceased-donor kidney, as well as the challenges of dialysis and the serious complications that come with kidney failure.
Living kidney donation remains a vital lifeline. In 2024, a total of 7,030 people in the U.S. became living donors (for kidney, liver or uterus), with the majority donating kidneys. Still, many potential donors hesitate because they’ve heard myths or misunderstandings about the donation process.
